Chicago Videographers

Looking for a wedding videographer in Chicago?

It used it be that no one watched wedding videography. The wedding video was doomed to collect dust in the attic. Today that is not the case. Choosing your Chicago wedding videographer is just as much pressure as choosing your Chicago wedding Photographer. It is all about style, taste and storytelling.

Now with social media and the internet you can share your commitment as a couple with friends and family all over the world and create a lasting historical document that lives on in your family for generations. So dust off those old videos on the shelf- they don’t live there any more.

The photos tell the story of singular moments in time. The wedding video is the living document of that story. The wedding video captures the voices, the interactions and the emotions in a way that wedding photography cannot.

Imagine your great grand child sitting down to watch the video of you, how valuable will that be?

There is only one time in most peoples lives when they hire a film crew to make a film about them, and that is the wedding. Why wouldn’t you invest in something that genuinely reflects the two of you in a beautiful way?

Our “Chicago videographers” are more then that- they are storytellers and filmmakers. They will be the translator of the experience of your wedding. Choose a filmmaker who is invested in getting to know you, your story and your family as well as your wedding timeline.

A great filmmaker will ask you lots of questions and gather tons of data about you and your family dynamic. Pay attention to how much attention they pay to you. The events and timeline are important, but not as much as your relationship with your filmmaker. This is how our videographers in Chicago approach our clients.

After choosing someone you are excited to work with, follow these 5 tips for a great wedding video.

Have a visual reference of what you want your video to look and feel like. Bring in a photograph, web-site, movie clip that you love and talk about why you enjoy them.

Have photos of important family members and friends that you want captured. With over 100 guests, even the best videographer can not guarantee that EVERYONE at your wedding make it to your video or get the same amount of attention that your key players will. If you have someone who is special to you, that might not be obvious bring a photograph.

The brighter the Better. If you choose an alternative space for your ceremony, take your videographer with you to design the lighting in the space. Dark spaces spell bad news for your video. Video needs lots of light, otherwise you get grainy, dark footage with little color range and depth. Alternative spaces and hotel ballrooms with no windows and ceremonies with chupahs need more attention paid to the lighting.

Talk to the camera and describe what you are going through as the day goes on. This makes a great story that your editor can use to make something sweet and tailored to the both of you. So many couples ignore the camera at the cost of missing an opportunity to have their film feel like it is theirs.

Write your own vows and whisper to each other during your ceremony. We cannot say this enough couples who write their own vows have a deeper connection with each other, more engaged faces during their ceremony and allow their emotions to flow. Which makes for a better video. Whispering to each other during the ceremony keeps the both of you alive and focused on the task at hand. Even if you are whispering about how hot the room is, it makes a big difference in how you appear on film. It is so easy to zone out at the altar. Brides often comment later while watching their ceremony video that they never realized how their faces looked.
